The BC Commuter Challenge is a week-long event for everyone in BC. It is an annually held event that typically takes place during Canadian Environment Week. It is part of the national Commuter Challenge program and has been coordinated by BEST in the Province of BC since 1996.
The Commuter Challenge is a fun, friendly competition between individuals and workplaces. Participants walk, cycle, take transit, ride share, car-share, or work from home and log their commutes online for one week. By tracking their commutes, participants are able to see the total number of CO2 emissions they’ve avoided, fuel saved, and calories burned, all based on their mode and number of kilometers travelled. There is absolutely no cost to register and participate, and there’s great prizes to be won!
